This city has a lot to offer in a short amount of time, like its old forts, narrow streets with blue houses, and spicy Rajasthani food. Here&#8217;s a list of the things I did on two great days in Jodhpur and how you can make the most of a short trip there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Day 1: Discovering the Old City and the Majestic Forts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I took a train to Jodhpur early in the morning and checked into a heritage stay close to the old city. I went straight to Mehrangarh Fort, the city&#8217;s most famous landmark, after a quick breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Day 1 Highlights:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mehrangarh Fort:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Entry Fee: \u20b9200 for Indians (audio guide costs \u20b9180 more)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is easily one of the best forts I&#8217;ve ever seen. The gates are huge, the views are great, and the museums are well-kept.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jaswant Thada (5 minutes from the fort)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Entry Fee: \u20b930\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A quiet marble cenotaph with gardens all around it. I spent about 45 minutes here, enjoying the peace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clock Tower and Sardar Market<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We took an auto for \u20b970 to get here.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is the centre of the old city, where you can walk, buy handicrafts, and try local snacks.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dinner at Gipsy Restaurant:&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A full thali costs about \u20b9500, which is totally worth it!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have to try the Rajasthani thali, especially the Ker Sangri and Bajra roti.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 2: Local Flavours, Palaces, and Stepwells<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Day 2, after a good night&#8217;s sleep, I went out to see some sights that weren&#8217;t too heavy. This day was all about relaxing in cafes and taking in the royal grandeur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The best parts of Day 2:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Umaid Bhawan Palace:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cost: \u20b960 for the museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hours: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This palace is still partly a royal residence and has old cars, artefacts, and beautiful gardens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toorji Ka Jhalra (Stepwell):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Free entry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A great place to cool off and take pretty pictures. It&#8217;s close to the caf\u00e9s in the old city.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lunch at Stepwell Caf\u00e9:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cost: \u20b9300\u2013\u20b9400 per person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Great view of the stepwell from the roof.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visit Nai Sarak Market to shop.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Try the pasta or their thali platter.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I bought Bandhej dupattas for \u20b9350 and some cheap handicrafts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where I stayed and hotels I suggest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a quick look at some great places to stay in Jodhpur that fit different budgets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Hotel Name<\/td><td>Category<\/td><td>Location<\/td><td>Approx.
