Jodhpur Itinerary 2 Days: Best Places to Visit, Eat & Stay

I only had two extra days on my trip to Rajasthan, so I decided to spend them in Jodhpur with my Jodhpur itinerary 2 days, which is also known as the Blue City. This city has a lot to offer in a short amount of time, like its old forts, narrow streets with blue houses, and spicy Rajasthani food. Here’s a list of the things I did on two great days in Jodhpur and how you can make the most of a short trip there.

Day 1: Discovering the Old City and the Majestic Forts

I took a train to Jodhpur early in the morning and checked into a heritage stay close to the old city. I went straight to Mehrangarh Fort, the city’s most famous landmark, after a quick breakfast.

Day 1 Highlights:

Mehrangarh Fort:

  • Entry Fee: ₹200 for Indians (audio guide costs ₹180 more)
  • Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • This is easily one of the best forts I’ve ever seen. The gates are huge, the views are great, and the museums are well-kept.

Jaswant Thada (5 minutes from the fort)

  • Entry Fee: ₹30
  • A quiet marble cenotaph with gardens all around it. I spent about 45 minutes here, enjoying the peace.

Clock Tower and Sardar Market

  • We took an auto for ₹70 to get here.
  • This is the centre of the old city, where you can walk, buy handicrafts, and try local snacks.

Dinner at Gipsy Restaurant:

  • A full thali costs about ₹500, which is totally worth it!
  • You have to try the Rajasthani thali, especially the Ker Sangri and Bajra roti.

Day 2: Local Flavours, Palaces, and Stepwells

On Day 2, after a good night’s sleep, I went out to see some sights that weren’t too heavy. This day was all about relaxing in cafes and taking in the royal grandeur.

The best parts of Day 2:

Umaid Bhawan Palace:

  • Cost: ₹60 for the museum
  • Hours: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • This palace is still partly a royal residence and has old cars, artefacts, and beautiful gardens.

Toorji Ka Jhalra (Stepwell):

  • Free entry
  • A great place to cool off and take pretty pictures. It’s close to the cafés in the old city.

Lunch at Stepwell Café:

  • Cost: ₹300–₹400 per person
  • Great view of the stepwell from the roof.

Visit Nai Sarak Market to shop.

  • Try the pasta or their thali platter.
  • I bought Bandhej dupattas for ₹350 and some cheap handicrafts.
